Eight years ago, I submitted my first independent research grant for $15,000 to the DF and I was fortunate to be funded. That initial investment has yielded over $1M from NIH plus other funders, allowing me to start my own lab at the University of Washington in 2021. This year, I set a goal to raise $15,000 so that someone else can have that same chance. Since my first year as an attending, I have supported the DF Leaders Society to pay it forward.
